Where the detail lives
The long-form answers belong to the work itself: emergency plumbing, general plumbing, drainage and hot water. This page carries the quick versions, plus the questions that flat, flood-mapped streets and sixty-year-old mains tend to raise.
One thing never changes between answers
Every job is done by a licensed plumber under QBCC No: 15024607, whether it's a tap washer at noon or a burst line at 3am.
Questions About Our Services
The work we're licensed for, and who owns which pipe when something goes wrong:
Call (07) 3522 5623Do you do gas work as well as plumbing?
Yes, we're licensed for plumbing and gasfitting and every job is done by a licensed plumber, covering heater repairs, cooktop connections, bayonet points and gas leak call-outs right across the peninsula.
Who owns the pipes between my house and the street?
Unitywater is responsible for the public sewer and water mains, while the branch lines, fixtures and all pipework from the connection point back through your property fall to you to maintain and fix.
Can you find a hidden leak without pulling up floors?
Usually yes, because we trace hidden leaks from meter readings, sound and moisture patterns before anything gets opened up, which keeps the digging and the cost of finding them down.
Do you replace hot water systems or only repair them?
Both, because we test the element, thermostat and valves first, and if the tank is rusted through we size a new system to the household, remove the old unit and commission it.
Pricing and Booking Questions
What a visit costs, how it's quoted, and the ways you can pay:
Call (07) 3522 5623Do you charge a call-out fee?
No, every job comes with $0 call-out fees and there's no extra charge for nights, weekends or public holidays, so the price you approve covers the work itself, whenever we're called out.
How do you work out the price?
We use flat-rate pricing with no hidden fees, and you get a fixed quote before any work starts, so the figure on paper is the figure you pay whatever the day brings.
Can I pay by card on the day?
Yes, you can pay by card or EFTPOS on site when the job's done, or ask us about Fix now, pay later, and neither option changes the quoted price one cent.
Is it more expensive on a Sunday?
No, there's no extra charge for nights, weekends or public holidays, so a burst flexi hose at midnight on Sunday costs exactly the same as a Tuesday morning booking at your place.
Emergency Plumbing FAQs
What gets answered around the clock, and what to do in the first few minutes:
Call (07) 3522 5623What counts as a plumbing emergency?
Burst pipes, an overflowing toilet, a gas smell or no hot water in a house that needs it all count, and they're answered around the clock while a dripping tap waits for a booked visit.
Are you really available at 3am?
Yes, we're available 24/7, 7 days a week, with the same licensed plumbers answering overnight calls and the written quote you approve standing firm whether it's noon or the small hours.
A pipe has burst. What do I do first?
Shut the water off at the meter first, then call (07) 3522 5623, switch the power off at the board if it's safe to reach, and move belongings out of the water's path.
I can smell gas inside. What now?
Leave the property and call from outside, don't flick switches or light flames or hunt for the leak yourself, and we'll find and fix it once the place has been aired out.
Questions About Peninsula Conditions
How the older mains, flat ground and storm season change the work we do:
Call (07) 3522 5623Why do drains block so often in the older streets?
Because the sewer mains Unitywater runs under streets like Henzell Street and Kurumba Street are largely vitrified clay, and earthenware house branches of the same era crack at the joints and invite roots in.
Does Council flood mapping matter for my plumbing?
It does, because Council's overlay rates Dorall Street and Norcott Street as medium flood hazard, so stormwater pits and gully traps there cop heavy rain often and need keeping clear through the season.
Are the original galvanised pipes still a problem?
They can be, because houses from the 1960s and 1970s around Boardman Road can still carry original galvanised supply pipe, which furs up inside, restricts flow and eventually starts weeping at the joints.
How do I book a plumber for my place?
Ring (07) 3522 5623 and tell us what's happening, because we're available 24/7, every job comes with $0 call-out fees and flat-rate pricing, and we'll set a time that suits the job and your day.
